Kids found dead

BHAKTAPUR: Security personnel today recovered the bodies of two children from the Manohara River at Narephant bordering Bhaktapur and Lalitpur.     The bodies of the deceased — Sanjaya Tamang (8), son of Bir Bahadur Tamang and and his cousin sister Tulki (10) daughter of Karna Bahadur from Dolakha — were recovered from the river at around 9:15 am. Tulki was currently staying at rented house in Imadole, Lalitpur.

According to kin of grieving family, Sanjaya and Tulki had gone to the river with a tube of tyre ‘to practice swimming’. Their parents had logded a ‘missing complaint’ with the police after the children did not return home until late yesterday.  After 17 hours of frantic search, the officials found their bodies stuck in marsh. However, the bodies were not swept away due to the low volume of water in the river.  The bodies have been sent to the Maharajgunj-based TU Teaching Hospital for post-mortem. Meanwhile, the bodies were handed over to the grieving family after forensic experts confirmed the cause of deaths by drowing.

Police said an investigation is underway if there were any unseen hands behind the incident.
